Have you found your life's greatest passion? Your mission in life? Your purpose? Do you have the gut feeling there is something more to life? Many people go through life wishing they could do better, be better, and live a more passionate, fulfilled life. Great news... there is and you can!! You don't have to remain stuck in a job or career you don't LOVE. You can create a life so exciting that you can't wait to wake up in the morning with fist-pumping enthusiasm. You love Mondays because of the opportunity they bring. That's how I live. Every morning when I wake, I jump out of bed and am excited to get in my office and do what I love. I am so excited about my mission in life that I sometimes have to force myself to go through my morning routine (priming, meditation, prayer, stretching, lots of water drinking, and exercise). I step into my office everyday filled with passion for my mission - and you can too!
Do you have limiting or empowering beliefs? Determining where your mindset is means everything. If you have limiting beliefs, you'll most likely fail at what you try to do in all areas of life. But if you have empowering beliefs, you can conquer the world.
Limiting beliefs sound like this.....
"I love to (fill in the blank), but I could never make a living doing that."
"No one would ever pay me good money to do that."
"No one would ever pay me enough to (fill in the blank) so I could provide for my family."
"I would love to (fill in the blank), but I don't know anything about starting or running a business."
I call B.S. - on all those statements above. Ever hear the term, "where there's a will, there's a way"?
You can make money doing anything. There is this man in New York City who started (a now very successful) business waiting in line for people. Yep, you read that right. He waits in line for people - at shows, concerts, restaurants, anywhere that has long-waiting lines - and HE GETS PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR IT. He built an entire company on this. So if a man can get paid to wait in line and build a company on that, I'm sure you can find a way to make a living doing what you love. But maybe you don't know what that is yet. That's okay. I've listed below the very strategy I used to help me figure out what my mission is in life. Here's the thing.... what you wake up for everyday - it shouldn't be considered a job or a career. You should considerate it a passion - your mission in life. Here's how to find your way if you haven't already...
Ask yourself what, overall, you want to do in life. For me, it was helping others, a service-based career. For many people it could be a creative position, teaching others, something behind a desk, an assembly line, or physical based position. But write down your overall desire in life. If you could do anything and had no limitations, what would it be?
Create three lists and, no matter how obsolete something seems, write down everything you can think of under each list.
List all your skills/talents. I'm not talking about expert or professional skill/talent, but something that you're proficient enough at you could teach someone the basics.
List your knowledge. Again, we're not looking for expert/professional level knowledge. Write down all things you have a moderate or in-depth knowledge of, enough knowledge you could teach a beginner the basics and hold an intelligent conversation with others.
List all your passions. Write down everything you are truly passionate about - something you could study or do for hours a day, for days on end, without tiring, becoming bored or burnt out.
Once you've completed these lists, clear your mind with some breathing exercises, pray if you're a spiritual person, meditate to center yourself, and then look at these lists. Something should pop out at you. You should see a theme or at least some overlap.
Ask yourself again, if you had no limitations and could do anything in the world, what would that be? THAT is your mission. Why fear it by developing limiting beliefs? Realize that you can fail at anything - especially things you don't love and aren't passionate about. So why not try to do the thing you are most passionate about? Ask yourself this... What does the world need that your talent/passion/skill can provide? Just figure that out because the effect you have on others is the most valuable gift you can give. Everything you gain in life - all your possessions, accolades and accomplishments will fall away to nothing when you die - but the effect you have on others, the gifts you give them, the way you made them feel, the way you improved others and the world - THAT is everything. And it's in your heart right now. Just tap into it, figure it out, and go do it.
After you determine your life's passion, your mission, it's time to create Empowering Beliefs. They look like this...
"I love doing (fill in the blank) and will find a way to make this happen."
"I am unique and have many gifts, talents, and skills to share with the world."
"I will serve (these types of people) doing (whatever it is you want to do), and I will be successful."
"Nothing will stop me."
Still stuck after doing this exercise? Reach out to me. I really enjoy helping people figure out what their mission in life is. And then I help them with the logistics of starting and building a business based on that mission. Let me know in the comments below what your mission is. Are you already doing it or about to start?
Go do your thing!
