How To Create a Non-Toxic Home

IT SUPPORTS DETOX, GLOWING SKIN, & A HEALTHY LYMPHATIC SYSTEM

In pursuing a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle, creating a non-toxic home has become a paramount goal for many. The spaces we inhabit influence our well-being, and by adopting practices that prioritize low-toxin living, we can create a living environment that promotes physical and mental health.

From choosing eco-friendly materials to implementing mindful cleaning routines, this article explores practical steps and insightful tips to help you transform your home into a haven of safety and well-being. Embracing a non-toxic lifestyle enhances the quality of our daily lives and contributes to a greener and more environmentally conscious world.

Below is a compilation of my favorite ways to create a non-toxic home.

SWAP OUT TOXIC CLEANING PRODUCTS
(even Mrs. Myers and Seventh Generation have been proven toxic)

DITCH DRYER SHEETS
They are toxic and contain chemicals. Swap with wool dryer balls and your favorite essential oils.

SWAP OUT TOXIC BODY PRODUCTS
Google ingredients and run each through EWG (Environmental Working Group) online to learn more.

SWAP CANDLES, ROOM DEODORIZERS, OIL STICKS, FRAGRANCES, & PLUG-INS
Use 100% beeswax candles, diffuse essential oils, and simmer mulling spices.

REPLACE KITCHEN TOXINS
Store food in glass instead of plastic. Eat off of and drink out of glass, ceramic, pottery, and porcelain.

AVOID TEFLON & OTHER NON-STICK COOKWARE
Cook with stainless steel, iron skillets, and LeCreuset.

FILTER YOUR WATER
Filter your whole house if possible for clean shower and bath water, teeth brushing, and hair and skin care. Drinking distilled is best for your health.

INVEST IN AIR PURIFIERS
Austin Air and Molecule are my two favorites. Test your home for mold and toxic chemical pollutants.

INVEST IN ORGANIC SHEETS & TOWELS
Your skins absorbs approximately 91% of what it comes in contact with—treat it well.

REPLACE YOUR VINYL (toxic) SHOWER CURTAIN
Use 100% cotton or linen curtains. They dry quickly and can be thrown in the wash weekly.

INVEST IN A NATURAL OR ORGANIC MATTRESS
Conventional mattresses contain fire-retardant chemicals, pesticides and fungicides, and cancer-causing chemicals. Opt for a natural or organic latex mattress.

Creating a non-toxic home is a powerful and conscious choice that yields numerous health benefits. By prioritizing non-toxic materials, we contribute to safeguarding our health, reducing exposure to harmful substances, and fostering a sense of well-being within our living spaces.

Additionally, embracing eco-friendly alternatives aligns with a broader commitment to environmental sustainability, reducing our ecological footprint and contributing to a healthier planet for future generations.

In essence, the decision to create a non-toxic home is a holistic investment in personal health, environmental responsibility, and the well-being of our communities. For a list of products to support a healthy, non-toxic home, please see HERE.
